Community vs Property Manager

As a manager of a community association or homeowners association, do you identify as a Community Manager or a Property Manager?

Ideally, you should say COMMUNITY MANAGER!

A Property Manager oversees rental properties or apartment complexes, focusing on upkeep and generating income for the owner.

In contrast, a Community Manager handles daily operations of the community on behalf of the Board of Directors. This role includes property maintenance and resident engagement, ensuring effective communication and enforcement to improve community life. Community Managers may work for a management company hired by the Board or be directly employed by the Association. Regardless, they represent the community, interacting with residents, board members, guests, and contractors.

Why does Community matter?

A community is defined as a unified body of individuals. It is also commonly referred to as a neighborhood. A homeowners association brings together owners of individual units together through covenants to establish a community. The manager overseeing the governance of the legal entity is therefore a Community Manager!
